Bike Build Ideas
Let customers speak for us
from 3455 reviewsthese brakes are fantastic; and this is my second pair. they take regular Shimano pads that are nonmetallic; the included pads are excellent. the included housing is fantastic -- and no doubt make for zero compression. but I didn't even use it!! -- I used Velo Oranges regular 'ol housing, and the brakes work great. I found them to be completely rebuildable. I cant tell the difference between these and the Pauls, except that these are more affordable. they blow away all other mechanical brakes: and I've used them all.
I now have four crazy bars if that says anything. Best flat bars around. Although lacking my velo orange stickers in shipment sucks hahaha, the bars are excellent.
These bars have transformed my ride. Comfortable, upright position, less jarring on bumps in the road, sharp looks, and a ton of fun.
I keep hearing these are dad bars. But to be fair, they are non-gendered and anyone would benefit from their awesomeness. They work well for standing climbs giving lots of chest space to breathe. You can also grab them up at the cross brace to get that lean forward for seated climbs. Your position with them gives you a good view of your cockpit and the road ahead. The built in stem seemed to enhance my stability downhill as it was longer than the original, yet my hand position was much the same if not back a tiny bit further. I did notice that the steering on steep hills was a bit lighter so I’ll have to remember to lean into it. I’ve only had a couple rides so far but I’m really liking them.
These are well made brakes with great stopping power and great modulation. Plus they came quickly and with everything I needed to install them. I am very pleased with them and with Velo Orange.
I'm 5'7" and have super short arms, these bars fit my body well! I'm enjoying the wide and sturdy hand position and have been more confident on gravel with these bars. I've yet to do an all day ride with these, but they've been great for my daily commute!
Enough said
FULL DISCLOSURE: Velo-Orange provided these bars at no charge to me to review on my YouTube channel, but I'd happily buy them at full price. They're that good. On sale, they're a steal especially since they come with their own stem(s).
I've ridden a lot of alt bars: Nitto Albastache, Nitto B903 Bullmoose, Nitto Bosco, North Road bars, you name it. The Granola Moose is my favorite by a long shot.
The Granola Moose is the alt bar for people that want what drop bars offer but hate drop bars: comfortable, varied hand positions, look dope, aero (for alt bars).
The main hand position at the grip area is super comfy, relatively upright for good visibility, and doesn't catch too much wind. I rode 70/100 miles on a fixed gear century ride in this position with no wrist/hand/neck/back pain. Turns out you don't need a million hand positions as long as the main hand position is spot on.
I find the dimensions of the handlebar perfect for my bike fit. YMMV, but they're designed to fit most people that ride with a 90-100 mm stem.
But where the Granola Moose really shines over any other alt bar are the cross bar positions. If you want to get more aerodynamic, the moose position where the stems meet the crossbar provide a pseudo "hoods" position, similar to having hoods on a mustache bar. You can even get into an aero tuck position that's reasonably fast against headwinds by placing your hands next to each other on the cross bar and bending the elbows.
*Pro tip: If you have a Garmin or Wahoo computer and want to clean up the looks of the bar, the K-Edge TT mount works well. Just be sure to get the Garmin mount if you have a Wahoo or vice-versa to rotate your computer 90 degrees and have it face the right direction.
On top of that, the Granola Moose still does the alt bar thing well with plenty of room for front loads and lots of leverage for climbing out of the saddle and off-roading.
I think I found my new favorite handlebar.
I tried these bars because I needed a little more sweep than I had on my stock bars and they were on sale. I was initially concerned about the style but these look great in person and are very comfortable.
Well built bag by a great small business manufacturer in the US. I have other bags purchased directly from Road Runner and this one is of the same high quality. I use this bag on a size medium Pelago flat rack and the six (6!) provided Velcro straps all hit the rack tube frame in places that secure it thoroughly even while overhanging the side edges of the rack. With that security comes a bit more effort to take it off the bike if you want to remove it while the bike is locked up out of your sight.
I give this bag 5 stars for what it is, a couple minor things I would like to have differently for my own personal functionality would be:
- faster means of detaching and reattaching to the rack, maybe small buckles & straps.
- opposing male/female buckle ends on each side of the main roll top closure (rather than both being the female side) so you can have a larger load and close the top opening to itself.
Fully waterproof would be great too, but that would be entirely different construction and certainly increase the price.
These cables are of high quality and look identical to vintage brake housings. It came with hardware like cable end crimps and housings ends and more. I would put these cables on any bike to make it look cooler.
These are really nice quality and they look amazing on my bike. Install was pretty easy as they provided a few mounting option, I did still have to pick up some hardware for my specific application but I wasn’t expecting them to be able to consider every possible mounting configuration. I’m using them with horizontal drop outs and there is just enough room to be able to remove my rear wheel but could cause and issue on other bicycles. They’re also pretty quiet considering they’re metal. Overall I'm very happy with them.
Great rack to accommodate the daily commute. Bonus eyelets for extra mounting options for bike packing accessories A+ always handy. Easy install to the riser bar.
Fit perfectly over 42c tires. Easy to install.
This is a major rack upgrade for my commuting experience. I just built up a New Albion privateer in gloss black with silver parts and this rack was the perfect finisher. It came with tons of hardware to get the mounting dialed in perfectly, and it looks so damn good! It’s pricey, but I feel it will last years and years being made out of stainless steel.
